Hi John
Our Willoughby masters group is planning to be there in October. I note the comment above that 3 centres are to be used for the event. Is this for both individual and teams? We found for the Gold Coast where 3 centres were also used, much of the social interaction from watching other matches in our age division and other divisions was lost. So a plea to concentrate as much as possible into once centre, or at least have all matches for one division in once centre.
We’re looking for accommodation for our group near one centre at least and assume that the South Adelaide Centre would probably be well used.

Alastair
Hello Alistair,
glad to see your group is coming to Adelaide in October, looking forward to see you here.
3 centres will be needed in Adelaide as we dont have large centres. We will be trying as much as possible to have each age division in the individuals in the same centre on any given day. We will do the same for the teams events when we possibly can.
South Adelaide will be the main centra and it will be fully utilised as much as possible, West Adelaide is also not to far away from South Adelaide too.
Regards
John
Hi Alistair
What are you going to do about Covid-19? Has there been any thought that everyone who comes must have had the first shot? I am also concerned about the three centres if it is like the Teams week on the Gold Coast 18 months ago. There were so many people at the centres as the day progressed due to some games running late and people needing to be there for next matches, Nerang and Labrador centres were packed – it was hard to find a place to get together afterwards. Given the social distancing requirements we have at our Squash Centres in Tasmania and I assume everywhere else, if it was like the Gold Coast, social distancing could not be observed due to sheer numbers. Has any thought been given to having more than 3 centres in operation to comply with social distancing requirements?
Also given many of us have to book things and have to be careful in regards to cancellation policies as we all don’t want massive credit to use rather than cash, could we please get some updates on the tournament site ( https://sams.asn.au/calendar-of-events/tournaments/) even if that is to say we intend to go ahead – we are looking at how we do so with Covid etc?
Hello Andrew,
I will try and answer all your questions here.
– In terms of the first shot, I don’t see how we could mandate that people have to have been vaccinated in order to play at the championships.
– We will have a clear covid policy which we will publish before the championships and we will put in a process in order to manage the social distancing at the centres. Yes we are looking at the possibility of using more centres. We will have at each centre outdoor areas to assist with this.
– I will publish something on the website soon along the lines of what you have suggested regarding us going ahead this year.
Thanks for your questions and we are looking forward to see you in Adelaide
Regards
John
